Project Information
After consultation with the customers, the requirements were for a quality
paint finish without getting too involved in panel alignment and
straightness. The character & history needed to be preserved & kept
within a given budget.
We noticed that previous repair work had been carried out & was showing
signs of age coupled with varying colour tones. In agreement with the
customers, I formulated a colour to match with the door shuts. This was
an area that we were not going to paint.
Rust areas that were noticeable were cut out & new sections welded in
whilst also removing all paint from the roof due to blistering.
Once preparation of body panels was completed all affected areas were
primed, firstly with metal Etch flowed by HS Primer. Off blue for the body
& white for the roof.
We sanded & thoroughly cleaned the vehicle before driving it back into
the
booth for a final clean & mask up ready for colour coat application.
Firstly, the roof was painted in basecoat white, once dry we carefully
masked the roof off & painted the blue. This was followed by de-masking
the roof & applying the Clearcoat.
The vehicle was allowed to cool after the bake cycle before having a light
flat & polish prior to handing back to customers.
