Project Information
Having been shipped over from New York the customer asked if we could
repair & paint his Camaro. After initial discussion & viewings, colour,
repair & finish options were agreed & work commenced.
Fabrication covered fitment of New Rear Tubs from Detroit Speed to allow
for 335 rear tyres. This involved bracing the Boot Floor & Chassis Rails.
More fabrication was carried out on the Tubs lower edges that sat past
the body work areas. This is not needed as standard fitment but we felt
allows for a cleaner more finished look, especially when viewing the
Fikse wheels & Baer 6 pot caliper's.
New Cills & Floor repair work were also carried out.
Door skins & Quarters had previously been fitted in the USA. Unfortunately
both Door skins were different sizes making gaps between panels more
visible. Both Door & Bonnet edges were welded creating an even visual
gap.
We found that the new Wing, Bonnet, Nose Cone & Lower front panels
that the customer had bought were a worse fit than the doors. All panels
purchased from the USA had been the most expensive available & bought
in good faith but quality of fitment & shape was poor.
The entire vehicle had Epoxy primed applied before filler work, once
complete HS Primer was applied. This was sanded & Black Direct Gloss
sprayed, flatted & Clearcoat applied.
Dash, interior panels, Front Wheel Arches & Boot Floor was painted in
Satin Black to complement the Black Gloss.
Once polished we handed the project back to customer for him to begin
fitting up.
