Project Information
We were asked by customer to repair & paint his vehicle within a tight
time frame ready for an American car show held at Brooklyn’s Motor
museum which he organised.
The Charger arrived, stripped of all required trim panels & vinyl roof.
Customers colour choice was reformulated using a slightly coarser
metallic, sprayed out & agreed upon by the customer.
Initial sanding revealed flaking paint & previously repaired panels
in filler.
These areas were sanded out & the existing filler was coarse blocked
to
remove any excess, check for adhesion & give us a good straight base to
build from.
Rust areas along the lower quarters was replaced with new fabricated
panels, all other repairs were carried out. Etch & HS primer was then
applied giving a consistent colour tone for the Basecoat.
Basecoat & clear was applied, baked & allowed to cool, we then
applied the stripe work & re-clearcoated the panels.
The Charger was lightly polished & picked up by the customer in time
for
him to fit up, apart from the vinyl roof, before the show.
After the show we arranged to bring the Charger back for a final polish
&
check over before handing back in time for the Mopar Nationals.
