Project Information

This is my latest bike that I have owned if some time, initially
bought home in several boxes & many pieces.

I have owned several 80's muscle bikes & wanted to keep the same
theme for this, only upgrading most of the components with later
spec parts including the brakes, wheels, forks, engine, electrics,
fairing & clocks.

The mono shock was replaced with twin ones, whilst the frame under
went some bracing and additional bracket mounts to accept the new
shocks & oil cooler positions. Engine mounts were fabricated together
with front mudguard/fork brace, chain guard & shock mounts for the
swing arm.

Frame work was fabricated for the alternate fairing, clocks & reservoirs
to locate on. Fibreglass infills were made to sit between the tank &
fairing, painted in textured black to keep things looking clean.

TES Performance carried out the frame bracing, shock positions,
electrics, engine work & much more before getting an MOT ready for
me to pick up on the wettest & windiest day I could have imagined.
New bike, M25 what fun. Bike ran beautifully & my waterproofs worked
well.

Once home I set about stripping the bike down ready for paint, sending
the frame, battery box & many brackets to B&P Powder Coatings for some
black work. The swing arm was also treated in Aluminium, looks great
& easy to clean.

I took the time to formula a graphite grey colour for the forks &
wheels & a blue pearl & black metallic for the panels, these were to
be used as my two tone layout in keeping with the original look.

All panels were repaired and primed where necessary; due to the tank
being badly corroded I discarded it for a new one. Starting with a
good foundation is always the key.

After painting the blue & black base colours, Clearcoat was applied.
Once baked & allowed to cool thoroughly, the panels were re-flatted &
masked ready for the decal & stripe work to be applied using a silver
base colour. Once dry, all masking was removed & clearcoated.

All the panels shown are prior to any polishing until the final
assembly was taking place.
